Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to access Tobruk Centre’s services?

No. We accept self-referrals, so please don’t hesitate to make contact with us.

A GP or other health care professional may be able to help guide your decision to connect with Tobruk Centre.

We will chat to you about the services that you need and help make sure we are a good fit for you and your family.

We may suggest other services too.

How much will it cost?

There is a fee for our services. If you have an NDIS plan, it can be used to cover our services. Likewise our services may be covered by private health insurance.

We try very hard to make sure finances don’t restrict your access to the services that you need, so we will work with you to find a service that matches your needs and funds.

How many sessions will I need for an assessment?

We take time to provide a comprehensive assessment. Our assessments with speech pathology and occupational therapy vary, however usually we will ask for a commitment from you to at least two sessions.

There is an additional cost for a report. Reports summarise the results of the assessment and provide recommendations to help you navigate the next steps for your child.

We will work with you to explain our assessment process.

Are there free services available?

We value the commitment that you are making to helping your child.

We try to provide value for money services and if you are experiencing financial difficulties, we will work with you to find a way to access services.

This may involve a finance plan, referral to another provider or a more consultative model of service delivery where we train you rather than us doing the therapy.

What type of services does Tobruk Centre offer?

Our team includes speech pathologists, occupational therapists, a youth development practitioner, psychologist and an allied health assistant.

We support families with young children and teenagers in locations across the Eyre Peninsula. Sometimes we see kids and their families here at Tobruk Centre in Port Lincoln, other times we carry out school and kindy visits, home visits or even community-based activities. We want kids to feel safe and connected so we bring our therapy to them.

You might see us supporting a group of students to be confident to visit the local cafe or create a game on the foreshore playground. Or you might hear of a family visiting the Centre or the therapist working in a classroom. Our services can be very flexible, because we are led by your ideas and needs.

What areas does Tobruk Centre service?

We travel throughout the Eyre Peninsula.

Cummins and Tumby Bay are serviced weekly by our Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologists.

We also visit Cleve, Cowell, Kimba and Elliston on a less frequent basis.

Can Tobruk Centre visit my child’s school?

Our services are flexible and we will work with your child in a location that supports their therapy goals.

This may mean we can work with them at their school, or in your home, or at Tobruk Centre.

If you’d like us to see your child at school, we would need to work with the school to make sure they are able to accommodate school visits.

How do I make a referral to Tobruk Centre?

We work with participants who have an NDIS plan.

It is ok to call us to discuss funding options as we also offer payment plans for assessments.
